Short Excursions

There's more to Tropical Nature Travel than wildlife lodges!

But there's so much to see and do in Peru that it can be hard to choose where to go. From mountain peaks to coastal desert, from colorful villages to ancient civilizations, we've put together these short tours (all four days or less) that take you to favorite Peruvian destinations, so you can make the most of your time in this diverse, vibrant country. These tours are a perfect complement to a stay at one of our Featured Wildlife Lodges or a Lodge Combination Trip.

Machu Picchu 2 day/1 night extension
The famous Lost City of the Incas is perhaps the most spectacular ruin in the Americas. Peru's must-see attraction!

Nazca Lines and Paracas
These pre-Incan animal shapes and lines stretch for miles across the desert and can only be seen from the air. The nearby coastal Paracas National Reserve provides an opportunity to see Sea Lions, Seals, Inca Terns and the occasional Humboldt penguin!

Lake Titicaca
Incan creation myths call it the birthplace of civilization. The deep-blue lake provides a stunning backdrop for the pre-Columbian ruins and traditional cultures that call the region home.

Colca Canyon
The best place in Peru to see Andean condors! Colca Canyon's spectacular scenery and living history provide an unbeatable setting in which to see the largest flying birds on Earth.

Day Trips
The many sights of Cusco and Lima can be overwhelming for a traveler with only a day or a few extra hours. Make the most of these exciting cities and their surroundings!
