Hyacinth Valley Camps
Accommodations

Our Hyacinth Valley Camps: Guests are accommodated in double or triple occupancy brick bungalows, complete with private tiled bathroom with sun heated hot water showers from noon until mid evening.

Meals and leisure activities takes place under a 20 by 50 foot thatched roof at one end of the camp. In this open-air dining room are two round tables, stools for sitting, and a number of hammocks for relaxing.
The camp site is surrounded by low trees, a few tall Mauritia palms and open grasslands. Bird feeding platforms within a few feet of the headquarters building draw a wide variety of beautiful tanagers and other small birds, all of which can be photographed from close range from blinds built for our enjoyment.
The communal bathroom contains flush toilet and shower, which is heated by the sun during the day to temperatures that range from lukewarm to extremely hot depending on the time of day.
There are no mosquitoes, and no other biting flies of any kind. Nevertheless, for peace of mind, each bed has a large mosquito net hanging over it. BioBrasil guides will show you how to tuck your mosquito net under all sides of your mattress to ensure a carefree night's sleep.
Each bed has more than one blanket because although we are not far south of the equator, we are at about 2,000 feet of elevation and the nighttime temperature is often about 60 degrees F. All in all, the climate is superb. The daytime high temperature at this sunny time of year is about 84-90 degrees, but the air is so dry that it never feels oppressively hot.
For light at night in the bungalows we use our own personal flashlights and one or two small kerosene lamps, which we blow out before turning in. Each bed has a small bedside table, and there is a luggage rack on which to place your luggage. Generator available for recharging electrical equipment.
