State of Piaui exists a remote yet now accessible wildlife destination
for the birder, nature photographer, and adventurous traveler.
Within the backdrop of spectacular 200-meter
red cliff-faces dwells the largest of all macaws, the Hyacinth (Anodorhynchus
hyacinthinus), precisely the location of the Hyacinth Valley Camp (HVC).
Wildlife
includes Maned Wolf, Burrowing Owl, South American Rhea (a large,
ostrich-like bird), Blue-and-gold, Red-and-green (Green-wing), and
Red-bellied macaws, Seriema, Toco Toucan, King Vulture, and tool-using
Capuchin Monkey.
A
trip to the Serra Vermelha (Red Mountains) area with its dramatic
red cliff scenery and Hyacinth Macaw nesting sites, affords opportunities
for scenic photography from a hillside above the valley floor.

| Our Hyacinth Valley Camps features five cement constructed bungalows each at the Hyacinth Valley and Hyacinth Cliff camps. Each bugalow has two twin beds and private tiled bathrooms with solar-heated shower. 3 to 4 beds are available per bungalow for large groups. 20 by 50 foot thatched roof open-air dining room. Hammocks for relaxing. Generator for recharging electrical equipment. |
