Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Pooks Hill
Guests are transferred to the Belizean rainforest area in the Cayo District. You'll have time to relax at Pook's Hill Lodge, located in the foothills of the Maya Mountains in the Cayo District of Belize, bordering the Roaring River and Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve. The lodge is situated within a 300 acre Private Reserve, on the site of an ancient Maya Plazeula Group. With its location in the very heart of the country, Pook's Hill is a perfect base to discover the sites and sounds of Belize.
You'll stay in a thatched cabanas surrounded bya Maya site and overlooking the forest canopy and creek below. The bar/veranda is ideal for birding or just relaxing in the tranquil setting. (4 Nights) (D)
Day 2: Xunantunich & Cahal Pech & San
Ignacio
Today we take a tour to the famous sites of Xunantunich – situated
on the banks of the Mopan River and Cahal Pech located just outside the
town of San Ignacio. Xunantunich was a major ceremonial center during
the Classic Period. The site is composed of six major plazas and surrounded
by more than twenty-five temples and palaces. We enjoy a local lunch
and also have time to explore San Ignacio. Known locally as "Cayo," San
Ignacio is a unique blend of America's Old West and tropical backwater
with frontier-like wooden shops on narrow streets. (B,L)
Day 3: Barton Creek Cave Adventure
After breakfast we
will transfer up towards the Pine Forest Region of Belize to the entrance
of Barton Creek Cave. Here we board canoes which are expertly maneuvered
by our guide to take us downriver. Glide through a remote underground
water cave system in canoes equipped with powerful spotlights. It is
believed that the Maya once used this cave for ritual ceremonies. While
canoeing through the cave see large and colorful formations, skeletal
remains and other cultural artifacts left behind by the Maya centuries
ago. Free afternoon back at the lodge to take part in the many activities
offered.(B, L)

Day 4: Caracol and Mountain Pine
Ridge
After
breakfast guests travel on dirt roads through the pine forest region
and down into the rainforest to the largest, most impressive Maya Site
in Belize. Caracol stands in beautiful rainforest scenery covering
some 35 sq miles and with 36,000 structures marked so far. Caracol,
a Classic Period complex, covers 30-square miles of thick,
high-canopy jungle, and includes five plazas, an astronomic observatory
and over 35,000 buildings which have been identified. The loftiest
among them, a massive pyramid (Caana) which is capped by three temples
and rises over 140 feet above the jungle floor. Caracol's central core
today, as seen by visitors, consists of three plaza groups surrounding
a central acropolis and two ball courts, along with a number of smaller
structures. On the way back enjoy a swim in the beautiful upper Macal
River. (B, L)
Day 5: Jaguar Pax Cave Tubing to Ambergris Caye
This morning we will transfer to
Jaguar Paw where you will enjoy a cave tubing tour. You will tube for
3-4 hours through some elaborate cave structures. This is a fun and relaxing
day where you will see the underworld of the Maya. After the tour you
will be transferred to Belize Airport for your flight to Ambergris Caye
Island. You will fly over the blue waters of the Caribbean. Once at the
island you will be transferred to your beachfront hotel. Your hotel has
an onsite dive shop where dive, snorkel & other tours can be booked. It is also centrally
located for the shops and nightlife of San Pedro. The hotel has a great
bar & restaurant. You'll stay for the next 4 nights at Ramon's Village
Resort in a beach front room. (4 Nights) (B)
Day 6: Shark Ray Alley & Hol Chan
Marine Park
After breakfast you can enjoy the famous Shark Ray Alley and Hol Chan
Marine Park snorkel trip. The Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray
Alley are the most popular diving/snorkeling sites in all of Belize.
This is due to the large amount of fish life found with the Hol Chan "cut" accessible
by snorkelers and beginning divers. The diversity of marine life encountered
throughout the 4 zones of the park and the excitement and novelty of
swimming with large numbers of nurse sharks and sting rays is amazing.
You can swim in close contact with Rays and (harmless) Sharks.
Located off the southern tip of Ambergris Caye, Hol Chan Marine Reserve is Belize's oldest marine reserve. Hol Chan is Mayan for 'little channel." The entire reserve cuts through the reef which is little more than 25 yards wide and 30 feet deep. Due to its protected status, what was once a depleted fishing area has now been allowed to regenerate, providing an unparalleled diving/snorkeling experience for visitors and an important refuge for marine life along the northern section of the Belize Barrier Reef. You
have the free afternoon to relax or book another trip – payable
locally. (B)

Day 7: Free day to Relax
Pick a spot on the white-sand beach just to relax. The snorkeling and diving are phenomenal. The waters are also perfect for water sports like kayaking, fishing, and sailing.
(B)
Day 8: Free day to Relax
Guests have a free day to relax on the beach. Enjoy the sun of Ambergris Caye, the cool Caribbean breeze in your hair, the relaxing sound of the waves washing up on the white-sand beaches and the serene sound of palm trees. This is life in the sunny paradise of Ambergris Caye! Or, you can book other activities. (B)
Day 9: Transfer out

in time for their international flight out.
